St. Vincent dePaul
Our Mission
The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that aspires to live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice and joy and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society
Our Vision
The St Vincent de Paul Society aspires to be recognised as a caring Catholic charity offering “a hand up” to people in need. We do this by respecting their dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.
Become a member
The core entity of the St Vincent de Paul Society is the conference you belong to, which is usually part of a local Catholic Parish Community. The society, in each conference, welcomes lay people, men, and women just like yourself, who sit next to you in Church, but who try to do something more about their Faith than just going to Mass. They are from all walks of life and from all parts of the community who seek to express their faith through service to the poor. Your passion and talent in serving the poor will be received with open arms.
Our Service
The Society provides a range of services to support people in need, they include:
- Home, hospital visitation
- Youth & young adult programs
- Family care and support
- Food distribution and feeding schemes

Legion of Mary
About
The Legion of Mary is a worldwide organisation of the lay apostolate, in which Catholic men, women, and youth sanctify themselves through prayer and apostolic work in union with Our Lady under the guidance of a priest or spiritual director.
What is the purpose of the Legion of Mary
The purpose of this association of Catholics is to make its members better Catholics and to raise the spiritual level of the entire community through direct contact with an interest in every member and potential member of the Mystical Body of Christ.
The sanctification of its own members is achieved through prayer and work. Each weekly meeting offers to the Legionaries the recitation of the Rosary, spiritual reading, a short talk by the Spiritual Director, a discussion of Catholic doctrine and devotion, and an evaluation of the work program. At the meeting each member is assigned two hours of apostolic work, to be performed during the week and reported on at the following meeting.
Who is eligible for membership
The Legion of Mary is open to all Catholic men or women over eighteen years of age who have the goodwill to want to serve God in the capacity of helpers to the priest, and who will conform to the Legion system.
Legion of Mary in Table View is a group of people that meet after the 9:00 am Mass on Sundays in St Joseph’s Room to pray. They visit the sick in the hospitals such as Sommerset, St Vincent Pallotti, and Blaauwberg Hospitals.

Mens Fellowship
About
Beyond fellowship, one of the key goals of the Men’s Group is to encourage men
to become a positive reflection of Jesus — at home, at work, and in the community.
To Know, Love, and Serve as Jesus Did
All men of the Catholic Church of the Resurrection are invited to participate in the Men’s Fellowship group.
We schedule a year-round series of events to provide the men of our parish the opportunity to fellowship with one another, develop friendships, expand professional networks, discover ways to grow spiritually, and learn how to become more involved in the parish community.
Our regular meetings once a month – 1st Saturday of the month will offer a two hour time to watch a DVD and discuss what the teaching of the DVD. Please feel free to invite friends to our events – including non-Catholics.

Flowers
About
Each week the church is filled with beautiful fresh flower arrangements. If you love creating and would like to participate even if you have never done anything like this before, your assistance will be much appreciated.
As you know these flowers are costly so if you have a special occasion coming up such as a birthday, anniversary, wedding, baptism, donations will always be welcome. We have a box in the foyer.
If you attend Mass in Melkbos and wish to donate towards flowers you can contact the office.

Library
About
The Parish Library was opened and blessed by Fr Hulgraine on 30 November 2000 (20 years ago). We have received books generously donated by parishioners over the years and we are constantly looking to add new, good-conditioned books to our Library, so please consider donating your books which you have read – we would be extremely grateful.
There are books on the lives of the Saints, Bible Study, Inspirational Spiritual reading, Care and Counselling, The Rosary, Prayer books, Children’s Books, Marriage & Family, and many, many more.
Some of our books got damaged in the recent winter rains hence our appeal for more books. We also have DVDs and some audio CDs.
The library is always looking for “book lovers” to volunteer their time to maintain the library with Kerry.
